Thanks for
having a look at my website. I am a chainsaw carver /
chainsaw sculptor from Ellesmere in Shropshire,
although I also make other woodworking projects such as
bird boxes and feeders. I started carving by chance but
quickly found it addictive. Chainsaw sculpting demands
physical stamina, an artistic eye, and knowledge of wood
and its characteristics.
Since starting I have
always used Stihl chainsaws for my carving and sculpting
and Triton saws for my other projects. I currently use a
Stihl MS230 with a 16 inch bar and a MS170 with a 10
inch carving bar for more detailed and intricate work. I
would recommend always wearing protective clothing such
as boots, trousers, gloves, helmet with visor and ear
protectors.
Chainsaw sculptures
provide interesting features in any garden or on any
patio and one that you will see nowhere else. All of my
carvings and sculptures are unique as no two are exactly
alike and they can last for many years if cared for
properly. Wooden chainsaw sculptures and carvings may
crack as they dry but will always hold their form. The
cracks will close as moisture absorbs back into the wood
such as when it rains or the weather is damp. Some woods
may discolour as they age but treating them with oils
such as teak oil should stop this.
I always have
products for sale and I would be happy to take
commissions of any size or type. If you are having a
tree felled you may want to ask the cutter to leave you
with a stump that can be carved into something of your
choice. Alternatively, if the whole of or a large
proportion of the tree is removed then you might want to
keep some of the trunk or larger bows for something to
be carved for your garden, school or workplace.
